We woke up to another warm, beautiful, sky blue day in Ohio. This weather is simply amazing. We spent the morning with Mary Beth, Bill’s sister, and went to a downtown Delaware traditional favorite, Bun’s Restaurant for lunch.
After lunch we got on the road again to visit friends Bob and Ellen Hudak at their beautiful home in Mansfield, Ohio.
Bill has known Bob since the 9th grade and went to high school with both Bob and Ellen. We visited them once before, at least 14 years ago since it was before they had their last child, Sean, who is now 14.
They also have a very friendly dog, a golden doodle, named Macy.
We spent the afternoon catching up on what everyone has been doing for the past 15 years or so and then Ellen fed us a scrumptious dinner of ribs, twice baked potatoes and salad. To top that off she baked both a pumpkin and an apple pie for dessert – my two favorites. 🙂
We spent the rest of the evening chatting and looking at pictures of a Yellowstone road trip they had taken earlier this year as well as some fishing trip and Alaska pictures. It was a very fun and relaxing day. I hope that we’ll have the opportunity to reciprocate their great hospitality when they come to Juneau. One of their older sons, Mark, is going to be stationed in Sitka with the Coast Guard so I bet we see them in the not too distant future.
Now it’s time for bed and I’m pretty tired. Tomorrow we’ll be heading up to Youngstown, Ohio where Bill grew up. Over the next couple of days we plan to visit and catch up with some friends and family that are still in the area.
