Relaxing, Lazy Sunday

It was a bit cloudy this morning when we got up.  Perfect weather for a relaxing, lazy Sunday.  We all headed to Cracker Barrel for breakfast and were early enough to beat the crowd.  We had a hearty breakfast and most of us headed home for a morning nap, Tom did some yard work.

Bill and Tom found this wooly bear caterpillar on the front walk.  Supposedly, the more black there is, the more severe the winter will be.  I’m not sure what this one means, but it looks like it might be a mild winter.

Later in the morning we found the cat on the fence by the garage.  I don’t  think she had ever been up there before.  Christy and I both tried to rescue her using a ladder but she wasn’t having any of it.  She later jumped down on her own, no problem.

After lunch (chicken pasta casserole) we headed out kayaking again.  The weather had been improving as the day progressed and it was mostly sunny by the time we left.  Today we went to a different spot than yesterday.  It was beautiful and great fun once again.  Here is Mary Beth getting started at the boat ramp.

I’m just relaxing, enjoying the sunshine.  I nearly fell asleep just floating around.

Tom went into a beautiful little cove to see if there were any lost bobbers to be found in the bushes along the shore.

He found quite a few before it was over.  Here are a couple of the better ones.  I see a garage sale in his future.

We had another amazing home cooked dinner of gnocchi, red sauce and meatballs. Tom had been craving red sauce so he made the sauce while Christy and Mary Beth made the meatballs.  It was really, really, really good.

After dinner we gathered on the front porch for a group picture. We’ll have to get Mary Beth in the front row for the next one. Nobody puts Mary Beth in the corner.  (Hee hee hee).

After pictures, the ‘girls’ went to check out an ice cream place that Mary Beth had heard about.  It was a little hole in the wall place in Delaware and it had good, home made ice cream.  I think I like Whit’s better (you can’t beat custard), but this was good.

When we got home, Tom had a fire going in the backyard.  It was a beauty.

Now we’re settling in to watch some TV before heading to bed.  We’re off to Mansfield, Ohio tomorrow to visit with Bill’s friends Bob and his wife Ellen.  Never a dull moment.
